Usage

1. If a natural 20 is rolled to hit, and it hits, roll again. If the second roll also indicates a hit, then a Critical Hit is scored. A natural 20 on a hit that isn't critical gives the player 100XP. On a Critical Hit the character should be awarded 250XP to 1000XP, depending on severity and circumstances.

2. Roll d% to find out which area of the body has been hit:

  • 01 - 17 left arm
  • 18 - 34 right arm
  • 35 - 46 left leg
  • 47 - 58 right leg
  • 59 - 84 body
  • 85 - 00 head

4. Determine normal damage for the hit. The first natural 20 indicates maximum damage, i.e. 8 points of damage if a d8 were to be rolled. This is regardless of whether the second roll indicates a critical hit. If the second roll for a critical hit is also a natural 20, double maximum damage occurs, i.e. for a d8 roll, 16 points of base damage automatically occurs.

5. Consult the appropriate table and roll extra damage as indicated in the "Immediate Damage" column (if any).

6. Note subsequent blood loss for subsequent rounds, if any. You may or may not wish to tell the victim about this as you see fit.

7. If indicated, roll the adjusted System Shock percentile. Failure means unconcsciousness, not death, although the victim may die from other causes...

8. Consult "Misc. Extra Damage Etc." for further possible damage and effects.

9. Bury the player characters concerned.

Notes

The term "total collapse" means the victim is at best semi-conscious, very weak and unable to do much except perhaps bind his or her own wounds, if applicable.

Blood loss continues for a stated number of rounds as indicated in the "Misc" column, or indefinitely if no indication is given, or until the wound is bound.
