Kiki and Tommy
Thimpashinash is a halfling rogue who lives alone in a residential area in the west of Deraheib.
01.04.1259: One day, as Thimpashinash was returning home from the shops, he saw Kiki, the daughter of one of his neighbours. Kiki was sitting on the road, looking very sad and distressed. Thimpashinash went over and sat beside her and asked what was wrong.
Kiki told Thimpashinash that Tommy had stolen her favourite didn and had taken it home with him. Tommy was a bigger, older boy, a teenager already. He was the local bully. All the neighbours near where Thimpashinash lived knew him as being a mean and unkind boy, especially to anybody smaller than he was. Kiki wished that Tommy would just leave her alone.
Thimpashinash was a little smaller than Tommy, so he decided he would teach the boy a lesson. He would get Kiki's didn back for her as well. He told the little girl not to worry and asked her to point at the window to Tommy's bedroom. Then went home to wait until night had fallen.

Around midnight, when it was dark and the street was quiet, Thimpashinash went to have a look at Tommy's house. All the lights were off and it seemed quite quiet. Luckily, an upstairs window was open. Thimpashinash made sure that nobody was coming, then he climbed easily up the rough wall of the house to the open window.
He succeeded with both a STR check and a DEX check to hold on to the wall whilst opening the window wide. He climbed in as quietly as he could, half closed the window behind himself again, and used his darkvision to look around.
There were three doors that led off the upstairs landing and Thimpashinash figured that Tommy's room had an open door. He could hear snoring coming from behind another door and apart from that the house seemed to be still.
He tried to move silently and hide in shadows as he made his way along the corridor to Tommy's room. Unfortunately a beam of moonlight through a window lit him up and a floorboard or two creaked. Thimpashinash kept very still and held his breath, but nothing happened. That was lucky, he thought, and he crept along the corridor and into Tommy's room.
Tommy was sleeping on his back. Looking around the room, Thimpashinash couldn't see a didn anywhere. There was a large wardrobe and that appeared to be locked. Thumpashinash had a closer look at Tommy and saw that he had a key on a leather thong around his neck. Perhaps it might fit the wardrobe?
Thimpashinash attempted to take the key without disturbing Tommy, but failed his pick pockets roll. Tommy grunted and moved a bit and still he didn't wake up. Thimpashinash decided to cut the thong from Tommy's neck with his dagger and take the key, hopefully without waking the boy. Quietly pulling out a dagger, Thimpashinash sliced the leather thing in two and very gently and carefully, took the key. Success!
Creeping over to the wardrobe, he put the key in the lock and turned it as quietly as he could. Still nobody stirred! But what was this? Inside were some clothes and a glass cabinet, which held Kiki's didn among other things. It was a well-loved bear, a bit floppy-looking, but the cabinet seemed to be locked.
He did not know where the key was and certainly didnnnn't wish to caught in the act of stealing, so he sat down to pick the lock on the cabinet. After a minute of two, the lock opened. Thimpashinash grabbed his prize and then took a couple of handfuls of clothes and spread them around the floor. Perhaps Tommy might get into trouble for having an untidy room.
With the snuggly didn carefully secured in the fron of his tunic, Thimpashinash returned to the window. He clambered out and shinned down the wall. The job was done. Hooray!
Without any pause, he went straight to the house where Kiki and her family lived and banged on the door. After a few moments, there was some disgruntled shouting and a candle was lit. Thimpashinash heard some stamping and a tired, sleepy-looking man in his nightclothes threw the front door open in a temper and demanded to know what the halfling wanted at this time of night.
"I've brought Kiki's didn," said Thimpashinash, matter-of-factly, holding it towards the grumpy man he had woken up.
"You... oh, thanks," the man replied gruffly and took it from him. "I'm sure that could have waited until the morning," he added. He bid Thimpashinash a good night and closed the door.
Thimpashinash returned home, feeling satisfied at a job well done. He slept soundly in his bed that night.
02.04.1259: Thimpashiinash arose the next day around mid-morning. He yawned and stretched and made himself some breakfast. Then he thought he would go outside and see how the world looked today. It was cloudier than yesterday, but still dry.
He had not gone far along the street when he heard an argument going on nearby. He hurried along and around a corner and there was Kiki, snuggling her didn, having a furious row with Tommy. Apparently Tommy had been in trouble for leaving his clothes all over the floor and he was determined to take Kiki's didn back again. He didn't really want it, he just didn't want her to have it because it would upset her if her took it again.
Thimpashinash ran right up to Tommy and gave him a wedgie, lifting him into the air. Tommy was mightily surprised. It was painful too. Struggle though he might, Thimpashinash carried the boy back to his home and set him down by the front door.
Tommy was very embarrassed at being treated this way by somebody older but smaller than he was. He growled and took out his pocket knife, and lunged at Thimpashinash. Thimpashinash simply shrugged and pulled out a pair of daggers.
It was clear the boy was no match for this rogue in a fight. Thimpashinash was faster, stronger, cleverer, more experienced, and a formidable foe. Tommy suddenly lost his nerve and fled, promising to leave Kiki alone from now on.
Kiki was very thankful to Thimpashinash. The halfling gave her a hug and said that he didn't think Tommy would be bothering her any more. Then he went home to enjoy a nice peaceful day.
